International marketing is defined as the performance of business activities designed to plan, price, promote, and direct the flow of a companys goods and services to consumers or users in more than one nation for a profit. The environment within which the marketer must implement marketing plans can change dramatically from country to country or region to region. The Uppsala internationalization model was introduced by two Swedish professors, Johanson and Wiedersheim-Paul, from the University of Uppsala in 1975. This theory was derived from the study of Internationalization of four Swedish companies. It explains how companies gradually strengthen their activities in foreign markets and how their learning affects their investment behavior. (Johanson and Vahlne 1977, 1990). According to this theory internationalization evolves stepwise at a relatively slow pace because of the market regulations and organizational learnings. This model is based on the four core concepts which are Market knowledge, market commitment, commitment decisions and current activities. On the basis of these four concepts, the model predicts the basic pattern of firms internationalizing. The Uppsala model is supported by many studies which have shown both small and large enterprises passing through distinct and gradual stages during the development of their international affairs (Johanson and Vahlne, 1990; Oviatt and Phillips-McDougall, 1994). These different stages and their characters give companies different experiences and knowledge about an international market. (Johanson Wiedersheim-Paul, 1975). At every stage a company sustains previous knowledge and acquires new. According to Johanson et al (2002), it is the aggregated knowledge that is the base for further movement into a newer and more mature stage in the model. In the first stage organizations acquire experience from the domestic markets then they aspire to move for the foreign markets. In the specific country investments are then carried out sequentially, concurrently and cautiously. Firms start their functioning from geographically and culturally closer countries with the learning of the firms people operating in that market and move gradually to more distant countries. In the third stage companies start their foreign operations by the traditional exports. This model proposes that the sales begin with sporadic export orders, which are then followed by conventional export orders. This transformation helps the firms to focus and progressively move ahead on more concentrated and challenging operational modes such as sales subsidiaries. And then in the final stage, the firm acquires increasing levels of empirical knowledge only if they obligate to the higher levels of resources in the market. As this model is almost 30years old there is a need to criticize and acclaim. Over the years the world has become more homogeneous that consequents in decreasing the psychic distances. As an effect of continuous growth in world trade and foreign direct investments the number of people with experience of doing business abroad has increased. Over the last 20years the international consulting firms and agencies have experienced tremendous growth making it possible to buy knowledge. IntroductionI teased apart from my evidence relevant data collected three important bits of information being, age, shoe size and gender I then gathered the data and evaluated the information after converting it into tables, graphs and charts. I gathered data from various ages, with various shoe size. Using evidence to understand and conclude which hypothesis is the most accurate. I understood the frame work of my report and from prior knowledge I already had a thesis of my own. Using mind mapping I created Ideas for obtaining relevant data. AimThe aim of my investigation is to have obtained enough relevant data to confirm the most accurate hypothesis and reinforce my argument. The evidence needs to be clear and precise and specific points summarised. Hypothesis and Null HypothesisHypothesis- Do children’s shoe size increase with age? Null hypothesis- As children get older their shoe size do not get bigger. MethodI devised a simple short questionnaire to obtain three important parts of information, gender, shoe size and age. All participants were sixteen or under I received consent from themselves or their parents and explained the reasons for my research. I then transferred the data into a tally chart and calculated how many participants have what size shoe. I then displayed the data into a barchart, pie chart and a scatter graph. I used various ways of working out the averages. Participants ages ranged from ten years of age to sixteen years of age, their shoe size ranged from a children’s size thirteen to a size seven. MethodTo obtain my evidence I devised a questionnaire and explained to participants if I could ask them three short questions to complete my report. The selected questions I chose I felt would be enough to put a report together, to observe a trend and to confirm statistics. Participants I asked thirty participants ranging from ten years of age to sixteen years of age, male and female with shoe sizes verying from a childs size thirteen to a size seven. I asked equal amount of female participants to male participants. MaterialsEach participants where asked if they were happy for myself to ask three simple questions reference to their age, gender and shoe size. Younger participants guardians were also asked if they were happy for me to ask their childrens questions from my short questionnaire. All participants I knew personally, they were either friends, relatives or work collegues. Each questionnaire displayed ‘Thank you for completing this short questionnaire’?Do children’s shoe size increase with ag eI disected the data into sections to understand, firstly the average shoe size overall, having relevant information allowed me to devise charts, graphs and tables to evaluate whether shoe size increase with age. DiscussionI feel the range of age could be better as I had no knowledge of the children’s age before the questionnaire was completed by them which altered my results. The results clearly supported the Hypothesis. Some results I would not have predicted for instance a thirteen year old boy with size seven shoe. Certain factors such as gender may have affected my results, some of the participants were teenagers and were probably experiencing growth spurts especially male participants as some results were quite surprising as mentione previously. I asked thirty participants which I felt was enough children to have enough date to devise a report maybe the range of the participants ages may have given me an interested twist to the Hypothesis. If I was to complete my studies again I would probably have a larger range of the participants age, I feel that the equal amount of male and female participants provided a fair report. ConclusionAnalyzing my findings I can see that the overal participants shoe size did increase with age, the Hypothesis seems to be correct. I feel I obtained enough data to understand if the Hypothesis was true or false. I can also analyze the most reliable average is mode. The average shoe size with in the participants age range of ten years to sixteen years is a size three.

A Theory of Human Motivation There are five basic hierarchical needs that each person must satisfy in order to achieve self-fulfillment. These needs begin with physiological, which includes the automatic drive to fulfill one’s basic nourishment from food, water and air, as well as the choices in the selection of these needs. If these basic physiological needs are not met, all other needs will be ignored until these are satisfied. Second is the person’s need for safety, which yields to short term and immediate dangers before considering other long term concerns to maintain safety in the future. The motivation to fulfill these needs include relieving physical discomforts such as pain or temperature extremes, avoiding hazardous risks that could potentially cause harm to one’s self, and also seeking surroundings that are familiar. Once the first two needs have been met, a person will focus on finding acceptance with others, not only with sex, but as a sense of belongingness with a person or groups that has a mutual concern for one another. Failure to satisfy the need for love often results in psychological maladjustments and disconnection in the future. The next is the esteem needs, which is the desire for respect from one’s self as well as respect from others. The next need for self-actualization refers to a person’s desire to become whatever they imagine themselves capable of. If all other needs are satisfied then that person will then seek to improve one’s own self in a way that they feel themselves capable of, and that varies from person to person. While further needs are seldom pursued, the final need is the desire to know and to understand that which has been previously unanswered. This is a need to satisfy one’s greatest curiosities in the final stage of self-fulfillment. Once a need is fulfilled and higher needs become satisfied, a person may shift their attention back to more basic needs that have since been depleted or lost. These needs are only applicable in humans and the study of these needs on animals does not suggest anything about the higher needs of human motivation.
